US Based rising Afro Soul, Cameroonian music artist Kei – Cry (Audio) Lyric Video
Listen and download Kei – Cry Afro Soul Pop artist Kei (full name: Kei Fofie) is pleased to announce the release of her first original single, “CRY”. Kei became famous worldwide two years ago after recording a cover of the Rihanna hit song “Stay”, which drew almost 150.000 views on YouTube within a couple of weeks – and which many still believe was better than Rihanna’s version. Kei’s release of her own original song is a big dream come true for this singer/model/fashionista, as she has been under pressure from family and friends alike, over the past several years, to launch an independent music career, based on her own intrinsic musical talent. The song “CRY” is more than just music, according to Kei; it’s a personal statement. “Yes, I wrote all the lyrics myself”, she says. “That song comes from deep within my heart.” Working in Los Angeles, California, with famed producer Musiq Gemini, Kei composed a song that will rapidly become a pop anthem on international radios and at house parties before the summer of 2015. Gemini is known to have produced wondrous beats for artists like Justin Bieber, Mario, Christina Milian, Lil John, and more. So Kei is playing at a very high level with her unique brand of Afro Soul Pop. Kei was born in the beautiful city of Bamenda in Cameroon, the West Central African nation often referred to as “Africa in Miniature”. She was half-raised in her native fatherland and in New Jersey, in the USA, and now lives in the heart of California. Her jubilant persona embraces all her childhood experiences from Cameroon, her adulthood hustle in California, and a lot of the New Jersey lifestyle that first welcomed her when she first settled in the United States with her family. “Though I’m a Jersey girl at heart, and am often told by my friends here in Hollywood that I curse like the Sopranos…” she laughs, “I’m still a proud Bamenda girl, no matter what. Even after a century in Hollywood, I will always owe my heart to the country where I was born, Cameroon.” And then she adds, with another burst of amused laughter: “but Hollywood and Uncle Sam pay the bills, so let’s not mess with that!” Quite realistic, Miss Kei! She first got interested in music at the age of 14. “But I didn’t officially start until about four years ago when I first went to the studio”, Kei tells her fans. “I am interested in all musical genres, especially AfroPop, Pop, Soul, Reggae, World Music, etc.” So she has a wide range; but the Soul Pop vibes that she has developed and mastered, while working in studio with one of the best producers in the industry, will be at the core of her brand. And when she’s not in studio doing music, Kei works as a celebrity wardrobe stylist. She stays connected with her previous activities as one of the most attractive African models in Hollywood. Many expected Kei to pursue a career in modeling, and possibly become a supermodel, with her perfectly “blackenicious” chocolate skin tone. When asked if she will continue to model from time to time, or whether the release of the song “CRY” means that her modeling career is dead, she replies: “For sure! Modeling is a hobby that I am not ready to give up anytime soon.” Great news for her fans, who will be looking out for her on the red carpet in the coming months and years. For Kei is so lovely on the catwalk and her photos are just stunning! Besides… she can also design and make clothes, which are skills she learned from her mother and while attending a designer school in Los Angeles. Kei, who is officially single, says the release of “CRY” is a very special moment for her, mostly because she has never released anything before other than the “Stay” cover. Asked if she considers herself the Rihanna of Cameroon, as some folks called her when they heard her version of the famous Rihanna song, Kei laughs for long, then responds with humor and humility: “I don’t know. I think I sound like me… like Kei. However, I’m really flattered to be mentioned in the same sentence as Rihanna because I’m a big fan of her music, her voice, her stage performance.” Asked if she’s already signed to any record label, Kei replies: “I’m not signed to anyone yet. I’ve got quite a few offers, but I’m still exploring my options, with the advice of my managers. My fans will know once a deal is signed.” She adds that she would absolutely be ready to do music full-time once a deal is signed with a respectable label. “Signed or not, music has always been my first choice, and if I get the slightest opportunity to do music full-time, it would be a dream come true.” About the song “CRY” itself, the original release date was scheduled for April 15th, 2015 (04.15.15); it is now suspended for technical reasons until unauthorized leaks are stopped. It will ultimately be available on most online platforms (iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Spotify, Soundcloud, etc.) and a Lyrics Video will be on YouTube for those who want to sing along. “CRY is a song that explains the power of love, the bitter after-taste when lovers go their separate ways, but never stop loving each other”, Kei explains. “CRY is very personal, and it was written the first time I saw him after we broke up, which was some few years back.” So this is a song that invites the listener into a very intimate part of the gorgeous and single singer’s life. Kei is already working on her next hit song, even as she prepares to release her debut single. “I don’t know whether I will end up living my whole life in Hollywood, or move back to New Jersey, or to Bamenda, or even to Abuja… who knows?” she asks rhetorically. For now, I’m absolutely focused on composing hit songs, I’m currently working on my EP, and yes… more music should be coming your way soon. So… stay and CRY with me.” For more information on the release of “CRY” and interview or booking opportunities, contact: firstname.lastname@example.org or email@example.com immediately.
